Improving and Enriching Lives

The Psychiatric Emergency Response Team (PERT) was developed through the collaboration of law enforcement, San Diego County Behavioral Health Services, Community Research Foundation, NAMI San Diego, other mental health providers, as well as mental health consumers and their families. It had become clear that a service was needed in the San Diego community that would provide effective and compassionate mental health support to law enforcement as they interfaced with persons living with mental illness. PERT was designed to provide this service and is now recognized as a national "Best Practice" model.
