William Hawthorne, PhD, and Diego Rogers, PsyD from CRF and Concha Barrio, PhD from the SDSU School of Social Work are working with Courtney Harding PhD and Bill Anthony PhD and others from the Boston Center for Psychiatric Rehabilitation to develop a Latino Research Infrastructure Support Program (RISP). A grant proposal was submitted to NIMH in June of 2001and includes the Maria Sardiñas Center and the South Bay Guidance Center as the West Coast site of three sites (six programs) serving predominately Latino clients. The goals of the RISP are to help develop the research infrastructure necessary to produce successful proposals to conduct research focusing on interventions and services provided to the Latino population. The West Coast academic liaison for the Latino RISP is Concha Barrio, PhD, from the SDSU School of Social Work.
