Dialectical Behavior Therapy Part II

Course Description: In this training, attendees will be provided with a detailed look at the use of Dialectical Behavior Therapy with the population they serve. It includes instruction and practice of structuring a DBT session including the hierarchy of treatment, self-monitoring, behavior analysis, and management of safety issues. Use of dialectical shift, behavior change analysis, safety planning, and diary cards. The training is focused on building upon basic knowledge of dialectics and skills training to expand the attendee’s use of DBT.

This course is recommended to be completed after DBT I or an equivalent introduction to DBT strategies.

Instructor: Kindra Moore, LCSW, CADC-II, Program Director. Kindra has successfully completed the PESI Intensive 5-Day Dialectical Behavior Therapy training and has over 8 years of practice in Dialectical Behavior Therapy.   

This workshop is designed to help you:

  1. Describe the basic elements of behaviorism according to DBT.
  2. Explain the concept of Hierarchy of Treatment according to DBT.
  3. Explain 4 DBT-oriented interventions that can be used when faced with client resistance.
  4. Demonstrate an example of a Dialectical Shift according to DBT.
  5. Explain 2 ways you will implement DBT in your clinical practice.
  6. Demonstrate and complete a Behavior Analysis according to DBT.
  7. Discuss and use the DBT Diary Card as an important therapeutic tool essential for DBT implementation.

Audience: Introductory Level Course; Psychologists, MFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, Nurses and Clinical Staff
